Zonta International
In January 1919, five progressive women from Buffalo, New York conceived the formation of a new service club, which would be composed of women who were recognized leaders in their business and professions.

Throughout Zonta’s history the organization has grown and spread is goals and enthusiasm for advancing the status of women from a small upstate New York community to locations all over the USA and abroad. Today Zonta’s issues and programs include education, leadership and youth development, preventing violence against women, and international service..

Zonta International and the United Nations: Zonta International service has been closely linked with the United Nations since Zonta expressed support for the fledgling UN in 1946. As an international non-governmental organization (NGO), Zonta brings women's concerns to the UN, suggests solutions, draws public attention to issues and encourages its members to participate at the local level.

Zonta also has various scholarship and awards programs that are presented at the local, district, and international levels.

As a Zontian, women have the opportunity to be of service to each other, to their community and to improve the world for girls and women everywhere.
