As
part of our commitment to support women in our community, Zonta
Suffolk participates in several scholarship programs that are
part of Zonta International’s overall programs.
Young Women in Public Affairs Program
recognizes young women committed to leadership in public policy,
government, and volunteer organizations.
For more information, visit Young
Women in Public Affairs Program.
Amelia Earhart Fellowships
were established
in 1938 in honor of Amelia Earhart, famed pilot and Zonta club
member. The Fellowships are granted annually to women pursuing
graduate Ph.D./doctoral degrees in aerospace-related sciences
and aerospace-related engineering.
For more information, visit Amelia
Earhart Fellowship Program.
Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship
program was established to encourage undergraduate women to
enter careers and to seek leadership positions in business-related
fields. The program ultimately seeks to influence business decisions
that positively affect women by increasing the number of women
in executive positions in the field of business management.

Zonta International
Through the International Service programs, Zontians support
International Service projects. These projects are identified
by Zonta leadership based on priority issues and/or geographical
area need. Zontians worldwide embrace the International Service
Fund through their generous donations and fund raising efforts.
In addition, they often use the issues addressed by the projects
as platforms for education and action within their own communities
and countries. Zonta International has work on such issues as:
- HIV/Aids
Awareness in Subsaharan Afrrica
-
Trafficking in Women
-
Famine in Niger
-
Preventing violence against women in India
-
Reducing the incidence of female genital circumcision in Burkina
Faso
